Mary and Jesus

This image of a sculpture and stained glass window is from a 13th century cathedral in Troyes, France. The creators of the cathedral consciously designed the chapel space to transmit higher knowledge through the alignment of space and objects. Mary is shown with the young Jesus giving the sign of benediction - left hand on the heart and right hand on the throat chakra. Mary's closed mouth suggests the transmission of blessing to the world through the power of silence. She surrounds the child Jesus with an embrace of  love and protection.
