Yama

This Tibetan tantric bronze image symbolizes the Lord of Death and the Lord of Truth, and suggests that everything in existence has the possibility of transformation. Yama is depicted in a wrathful pose with flames rising from the hair. Yama dances on the back of a bull, which represents negative tendencies which lead to mechanical rebirth. Underneath the bull is the Buddha, who has taken on human existence and the corresponding state of ignorance in order to lead others to enlightenment. The Buddha sacrifices his perfection to lead others to Truth.
